Stoli the Vizsla from South Side Dogs
ties the knot on Good Morning America

Just wanted to share with you a picture that aired on Good Morning America on Halloween. Stoli (my dog) and Hennessy (my neighbors dog) got married on Halloween. Stoli is the groom. He was born from the Feb. 7, 2006 litter. We walked them on Halloween and more people stopped and commented on the dogs then the kids. We found out last year that our neighbors who live behind us have a female who is 6 months older than Stoli. They play together almost everyday. We have a dog door in our fence and they play with each other all day long. They are very funny to watch, whether stalking, chasing, wrestling, or sleeping. We all love him so much, he is a giant mush, and as you can see we can pretty much do anything to him....Stacey G. (Setauket, NY)

I wanted to send an updated Testimonial to you. Tatum is now 4 years old and we live in Alexandria, VA. My wife and I are so thrilled with Tatum! Peggy and I still get stopped all the time and people ask all types of questions. I have heard, “is that a Ridgeback” is that a Weimaraner” But most of all everyone says Tatum is the prettiest dog they have ever seen! My dog walker even says she gets stopped. Frank, I will never forget you telling me to get ready for the experience of a lifetime as a Vizsla owner. It’s been a fun run after 4 years and I’m really looking forward to spoiling Tatum even more! Some of my friends really think I’m nuts for getting a Viszla as a first dog. I’ll have to say I do not regret this one bit. These pictures were taken at my parents house and Tatum loves to run all over the woods behind their house. She even runs over to other neighbors yards and plays with other dogs. Thanks for telling me to get her around other dogs and people as soon as possible. She is well behaved around everyone, well, most of the time. I will have to send more photos to keep you up to date on Tatum. Thanks Frank!....Brad McCoy (Aldie, MA)

On October 5, 2008 we wound though the beautiful fall-colored hills of upstate New York near Worcester to find the home of Southside Dogs nestled down a picturesque country road. The grounds were pristine and tranquil as we awaited your arrival. After the business part of the transaction was completed sitting at the out-door table surrounded by nature, Lisa brought out our beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy, Amari, a wheaten-colored, bright-eyed marvel with a black muzzle that captured our hearts on sight. It is easy to tell his breeding is exceptional. He is so intelligent but is also affectionate, energetic and tolerant with such a calm and gentle spirit. He is a credit to his bloodlines to be sure. We so appreciated having you share your wealth of knowledge with us on training, care and feeding. Your warmth and genuine desire to see that your puppies go to good homes is to be commended. We spent a very pleasurable hour and a half with you and were so pleased to be able to meet Lisa as well. We will always look back fondly at our time at Southside Dogs and hope to visit there again some day. Amari was the perfect gentlemen on the plane trip back to Alabama. On each flight our fellow passengers were unaware that he was aboard as he was so well-behaved and calm. Amari has been nothing but a joy since we’ve been home. He and Otis, our Boston terrier, get along great and he only cries if he needs to go outside, even at night. We have never seen a more agreeable puppy and would recommend Southside Dogs to anyone looking for a top-notch breeder from whom to purchase a high quality puppy. Thank you, Southside Dogs, Frank, Diane and Lisa for giving us this wonderful opportunity to own this very special friend. Mike and Dvorah (Trussville, Al)

Within minutes of my first visit to your wonderful compound, a monument to dogs and dog lovers all over the world, I experienced a sense of awe. I experienced a feeling that I never quite had before: that someone, at a very deep level, had a superhuman love and respect for dogs matching or perhaps even stronger than my own, and I never thought that I ever had an equal. I realized for the first time that there are people in this world who know exactly what they are doing - and know how to do it. You've illustrated clearly that if a person has a dream and a passion that it could be done like it's never been done before. You, my friend, have filled this role. You've done something like no man before you. For your incredible achievement I am forever indebted. I will never be able to repay you or express my debt of gratitude in words or even spirit for changing my life with the dog that I needed, a dog that had to      In July of 2007 you told me that there was no way I could be disappointed, but I had no idea how immeasurably satisfied I could be with this Vizsla. Your knowledge, of course, surpasses mine in all things considered "canine," so I had a difficult time forecasting the actuality of my sentiments that I'd be experiencing with my dog, a son of Hugo, who is one of the international treasures currently existing in the modern world. Your promises were steep, like Mt.Everest-steep, but you delivered...and then some.
Having come from the model of perfection, his father Hugo, my dog Rudy seems to long to be like his father Hugo, though Hugo seems to be a dog that will never have an equal; nevertheless, Rudy, who is so close to my heart that I named him after my deceased uncle Rudolfo, a major figure in my life, seems to be another champ.
I have sung your praises a great deal in the Northeastern suburbs of Philadelphia and along the Jersey shore, and I am sure some who've heard the words will be looking you up, and they will be on their way to the paradise.
Again, I concede that words will not - cannot - express what you've done for me on two levels: One, you've given me a dog to help fill in devastating holes left by my Weimeraner who died earlier this year tragically, immaturely, and unexpectedly of a brain tumor. Two, you serve as iconic model for what is possible when a man, an accomplished man of action, is given the opportunity to place dogs in the exalted position to which they should have always been placed: above royalty. For South Side Dogs is a kingdom, and all the dogs are royal; all the workers are royal; and the buyers of the dogs have access to this royalty.
I will pay a visit in person in the upcoming new year to thank you again and to admire your beautiful dogs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Ralph (Brisol, PA)

It has been almost four weeks since we left NY with Marley, our GSP, and I want to give you an update.  First, she is a sweetie that we love very much.  Her disposition is outstanding and she is one fast learner.  The house training has been going very well.  The first two nights she had accidents in her kennel (as expected) and that was it.  We don’t give her free run of the house, but she has full freedom in the kitchen and morning room (when we are home) and has not had any accidents since the first week.  We’re halfway through puppy kindergarten, and even though she is one of the youngest pups in the class, she has picked up the commands very quickly. She is also very calm in stressful places; such as Lowe’s Garden Center, strip malls, or going on our boat for a ride in the Potomac River or the Chesapeake Bay.  We live in Labrador Retriever country, so when people see Marley, they comment on how beautiful her markings are and how calm she is around people.  Next question is “What type of dog is she?” and “Where did you get her?”  I’ve also had several dog breeders and people that show dogs tell me she has the disposition, temperament, and markings of a show dog and I should show her.  I’m not sure if we’ll go that route, but I won’t rule it out either. You were right Frank regarding Jenna’s litter.  Marley has been the perfect puppy for us and she is a great addition to our family.  Attached are a few photos of Marley.  I’ll send you another update in a month or so. Thanks again for picking out Marley for us to join our family. Sincerely....John and Jane     (Great Mills, Maryland)

Well, as they say, a picture tells a story, and I'm sure you can see from this picture that Scout is alive and well and thriving. I cannot even begin to tell you how much pleasure she brings to us, but I will try to bring you up to date. Where to start? First of all, I have had dogs all my life, usually more than one at the same time and I have never had a dog with this sweet a temperament. Scout loves everyone - four and two footed. She is not submissive when met with doggy animosity, but does back off. For example, a month or so ago, she was playing with an Australian Shepherd that we happened to meet at an adventure race. The shepherd decided she'd had enough and "reprimanded" Scout who has never had enough. Scout snarled right back, turned and regally walked away and came and hid her face in my legs. She spent the next 5 hours right next to the other dog and never again made eye contact. It was like that mean dog didn't exist. That's Scout. We find that she's so friendly with humans that she scares them when we are out on a run. She will stay right next to us (off leash) as long as the other person doesn't make eye contact, but if they do, she considers it an open invitation to run over and greet the new friend. Not everyone is overjoyed to see an 85 lb dog barreling toward them - huh, go figure! Speaking of running, Scout runs 7-10 miles nearly every day likes it even more if Ned rides his mountain bike since that's faster. She's fast, agile, incredibly strong, and a wonderful trail running companion. She's even great on the road where, of course, she's on leash. She gets complimented constantly when I bring her to group runs with my running club. People tell me their dogs would never behave as well as she does. I don't even know I have a dog on the end of the leash. She knows she has to stay on the same side of things as I so the leash doesn't get tangled and I find I just run and chat with my 2 legged running buddies and don't even think about her. Which brings me to her demeanor when out and about. Scout likes to do what we call her imitation of "the perfect dog." I brought her to a little league game where she lay down so the children could easily pet her and was so calm, gentle and sweet that people could not believe that she was only a year old at the time. We laugh because when we come down first thing in the morning and let Rocky and Scout out of their (shared) crate, Scout is like Cujo. She goes absolutely wild with excitement. No one would ever believe she could calm down if they saw her then. By the time she's had a run and breakfast, she's like another dog. A few months ago, I wondered how she would like agility. On our trail runs, she often has to ford steams, cross log bridges, jump obstacles, etc. and she loves it, so I thought she would be a natural. I called a local instructor I knew and talked to her about "Agility Fundamentals." It's a beginner class, and the instructor owns her own Rhodesians. I was worried because the class has a lot of prerequisites and Scout had never attended any class. On our first night, we went around and introduced ourselves. Every dog there had been to Puppy Kindergarten, Family Dog I, Family Dog II and Family Dog III - some numerous times for the last one. The dogs were all at least 2 years old. When it was my turn, I said Scout was 15 months old and had been "home schooled." You should have seen the eye rolling that caused. Everyone backed away. By the time that first class was over, Scout was garnering compliments left and right. She was completely focused on the tasks, and did everything I asked. She was the only dog who was comfortable at that stage working off leash. Additionally, she was the only "big dog" in the class that all the small dog owners wanted to stand next to since they and their dogs knew she wasn't a threat, but the big dogs steered clear. She sailed through Agility Fundamentals so easily that the instructor advised us to skip Agility I and Scout and I started Agility II last week. Again, I was needlessly concerned about her fitting in. She is the best behaved, most focused dog in the class. The tougher the obstacle, the more she enjoys it. She LOVES climbing the A-frame and dog walk. She comes streaking out of the tunnel and looks to me to see where to go next. The other dogs come streaking out of the tunnel and take off across the room/field for the other dogs. How silly they are! Anyway, as I'm sure you can tell, we adore Scout. She is absolutely everything we hoped for in a dog. We are so very very glad that we contacted you and made the trip out to Worcester to meet you and the dogs and finally to pick Scout up. You did a wonderful job choosing her for us. I still remember the moment that you put her in my arms and said, "Here she is. She's a brat." I told Ned on the way home that we should never have asked for a high energy dog. I worried it would be a disaster. How wrong I was! She was a cinch to house train, has never chewed something she shouldn't, was a snap to obedience train and is a love. Every morning while she does her Cujo act we remember that we asked for high energy, but we wouldn't have her any other way. She patrols our 3 acres for chipmunks and squirrels for hours, but doesn't even bark when strange cars pull down the driveway. We had to get a "stubborn dog" collar for her because she wanted so badly to go visit the neighbors (surprising them in their kitchen when they left the door open), yet if while on a run she sees a squirrel and tenses to chase and I say, "No, Scout. Stay with me." She stays. She's amazing. She's EXACTLY what we wanted - smart, sweet and an athlete. Thank you so much for Scout. She is the perfect dog for us. We can't imagine ever buying a dog from anyone else. Please give Duke and Jasmine an extra treat tonight from their little girl and her thankful family. Merry Christmas to everyone at South Side Dogs, and best wishes for puppies in 2008! ....The Kennedys (Bolton, CT)

When we first came to Southside Stables in early July 2006 my husband, Hans, and I were still mourning the sudden loss of our 2 year old Vizsla Sam. Due to the severe flooding in our home area (NJ/PA border) the creek near our house, normally very shallow, had become an actual river, almost running over the bridges. Sam, who loved swimming, went in and was happily retrieving sticks my husband was throwing. It didn't look dangerous at all, as the undercurrents were not visible. But when Sam came too close to the bridge it was the undercurrent that drew him under and he didn't come out on the other side of the bridge, he simply disappeared. Hans tried to go after him immediately, but thank God, our neighbor was with him at the time it happened and she managed to pull him out just in time. We searched for 3 days and then our worst fear came true: we found his beautiful body just a few hundred feet from the bridge, lying partly on the bank, partly in the water. What must have happened was that he got trapped in the debris under the bridge and drowned then and there. Despite our deep sorrow, we also felt grateful we at least found his body so that we could properly bury him. Losing a dog is always painful and can only be understood by people who love dogs and see them as part of the family, but losing a young, healthy and great dog in this way hurt more than we ever thought possible. About two weeks after Sam's death we already knew we wanted to fill the void in our lives by having another dog; never to replace Sammy, but to make our lives complete again. Intuitively I knew I didn't want to have another Vizsla again. Not because I didn't like the breed, I still think it is one of the most beautiful, athletic and wonderful dogs that exist. But more because I wanted to avoid making comparisons to Sam. I started looking on the web for breeds and was taken by the personality traits of Rhodesian
Ridgebacks: protective, loving, able to handle both heat and cold, and reserved to strangers but very sweet once they know you. Searching the web, I landed at Southside Stables and was impressed by the website (and yes, the testimonials, as well!). I sent in my email, very briefly mentioning we lost our dog and were looking for a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy. The very next day I received an email from Frank, who was very empathetic, saying he knew how we felt as he had gone through a similar experience himself. He did have a litter (5 boys and 1 girl) of 3 weeks old RRs but they were all spoken for already. He wanted to keep the female himself, but asked me to call him back as he wanted 'to share something with me'. So I did. It appeared Frank was struck by our loss and wanted to meet us. That same weekend Hans and I drove
up to Worcester, NY, and we met Lisa and Frank. I think there was a click right away, not only between Frank and us, but also between us and Gabbi, the mother of the pups. I was totally smitten by her looks and sweet personality. Frank and Lisa invited us to the green table outside ("where the best deals are made") where Frank 'grilled' us on our experience with
dogs, our home situation, etc. Half an hour later Frank asked us if we would be interested in adopting the female puppy. Hans couldn't believe his ears. And being the man who checks, checks and double checks everything, always, he asked me: "Is he really going to let us have that little girl?" and I said: "Yes, I believe so!". Hans stood up and spontaneously gave both Frank and Lisa a big hug, he was as happy as could be, not even fighting his tears. The deal was made and we went home, totally incredulous and so excited!

Four weeks later we picked up our little girl. We had gone to lengths trying to find a proper name for our Rhodesian baby and luckily, there is always Google! I had searched on "African Girl Names" and found rows and rows of names with their meaning. We chose "Ntombi", meaning "girl" and decided to name her "Tumbi" for short. Hans wanted to make it even more official and give her a 'middle name', which became "Ekundayo", meaning "sorrow becomes
joy", which we felt was very appropriate. It almost induced us to change our last names into African, too, to make her first names not sound so out of whack! Tumbi appears to be the light of our lives, she is the most adorable, cutest, beautiful little pup you have ever seen. Really! She is sweet, plays a lot, already has a mind of her own (which at this stage is so cute!),
wants to be held (no problem!) and follows us around everywhere. Frank could not have made us any happier. The way he picked Tumbi for us, his empathy, his thoroughness in making sure his dog would go to the right home, were so great. This is a breeder who cares for his dogs; breeding dogs and running the perfect business is his passion, there is no doubt about that. And Lisa fits in that same league: very professional, caring and organized. We still
feel the pain for Sammy, but what a joy to have this puppy. Life without dogs is no life and if there is anyone who understands that, then it is Frank....Paulien (Frenchtown, NJ)

I hope this email finds you and your family and dogs well. I wanted to give you another "Tumbi Update" as it has been way too long since you've heard from me. Let me start by saying (at the risk of sounding too sentimental…) that Tumbi has become the light of our lives. She is turning into such a wonderful dog, way beyond our expectations or imagination. She will be turning 2 on June 21 and Hans and I can really tell that more and more her "brains are kicking in". She still is feisty and loves to get in trouble, but at the same time, she is getting more and more obedient and listens very well to us. I actually like it that she has a (strong) mind of her own, and she certainly has a great sense of humor. Never a dull moment with her…. We also do all kinds of "tricks" with her, to keep her mind sharp and occupied and I really think she has a good brain in that thick skull of hers. She is a master in hide and seek, she knows how to "say grace" before dinner (well, we have to help her a little bit, but essentially it means she doesn’t begin to eat until we have said: "Lord Bless The Food I Am About to Receive - Amen" and only at "Amen" she attacks her bowl), she can shake hands, and we are currently refining her retrieving skills (not a strong suit of Rhodesians, I believe). She also takes her job of Lion Hunter very (too) seriously. We now have 3 cats (who by the way, were not exactly hand picked by us, but they hand-picked us) and she hates their guts. This is too bad, as we like to keep the peace in the house, but so be it. She chases them around the house when she can, so that basically means we have to refine her to the kitchen as the cats have the house to themselves. She loves running with me, either when I am biking or running myself. She also loves to ride with me in my convertible, especially with the top town. You should see her, head in the air, ears flying and thoroughly enjoying herself. She loves sitting on benches when we walk with her through town and often times chooses the bench of her liking, jumping up on it before we even have a chance to sit down. We always get a lot of attention with her! She is also becoming protective, both of the house as well as us. A stranger cannot enter the house when she's around and we like it that way! But when we say: "it's OK, Tumbi, it's a friend", she accepts that and wags her tail. She still is great with other dogs and superb with young kids. In short: you couldn’t have given us a better dog and friend! We hope all is well with you and would love to hear how you and your dogs are doing. Take care, be well! All the best....Paulien (Frenchtown, NJ)

South Side Dogs is proud to receive a commendation from the Office of the Sheriff in Schenectady County. The owner donated a puppy to their K-9 program and an appreciative and elated Sheriff Harry C. Buffardi was kind enough to send this letter to Frank expressing his gratitude for providing the department with such a gifted and talented puppy. Click on the letter to the left or read below what the Sheriff had to say about South Side Dogs.

Thank you for the generous donation of a puppy. We have researched the pedigree of this dog and have found him to be of the highest quality and background of any dog that has ever entered our K-9 program.
At the very earliest stages, we were able to see in this dog very stable and even tempered characteristics. As a puppy, this dog is unaffected by the environment and remains stable under adverse conditions. He is not timid in any way and continues to have drive and hunt for a source of odor when there is exterior noise and other environmental distractions that would shut down most dogs. We normally test dogs that are at least one year of age to look for these characteristics but found this temperament i your puppy when he was only eight weeks of age.
We have named this puppy bosco and his training has begun with socialization and basic obedience. At 16 weeks of age we have found that he already has the ability to track subjects and has a sense of smell that I have never seen in a dog of that age. We will continue this training until he is about one year of age when we will begin his formal drug detection training. I predict that this training will be quite simple for Bosco and will be a key player in the war on drugs. One of our most experienced had handlers and police officer has already began taking him out in the field to socialize him to his future role as a police K-9.
Not only are we grateful for this donation because of this dog's ability, we are appreciative because of the financial implications. For us to obtain a dog of this caliber and background would create an expense of five to ten thousand dollars. Because of your generous donation there will be no expense to the tax payers of this community. For this you are commended. Again, thank you for the generous and charitable donation....Harry C. Buffardi, Sheriff (Schenectady, NY)

South Side Dogs is proud to have received the commendation from the Office of the Sheriff in Schenectady County. The letter to the left is a follow up to express, to the owner of South Side Dogs, how well Bosco (the puppy South Side Dogs donated) did in the K-9 program. Well, it appears that Bosco was is at the top of his class! Click on the letter to the left or read below what the Sheriff had to say about the puppy we donated!

Enclosed is a biographical data sheet we presented to a grand jury regarding KI9 Bosco for a case he was involved with. Bosco has been our most active dog in our K-9 program. He has made the most searches, made the most discoveries and found the greatest quantities. Though our K-9 does not always make a discovery on every search, because there may not be a presence of a target odor, I am convinced that Bosco has never missed a narcotic. As you were the donator of Bosco I thought you may be interested in this biographical sketch and interested in his accomplishments. We remain grateful for your generous donation of Bosco....Harry C. Buffardi, Sheriff (Schenectady, NY)

Just wanted to write and thank you for selling us such a great dog. Cooper is just over a year old now and has turned out to be a nice addition to the family. He and I had an opportunity to get out and do some bird hunting in Kansas this weekend. This was his first hunting trip and we had a great time together. I attached some picture I thought you might enjoy. The first picture is of Me, Cooper and a bird that he pointed out, the second is a photo of Cooper showing off his orange vest I bought him on the way and the third is of Cooper wondering why everything is so flat and dry. This dog is everything you said it would be and much more....Michael (Denver, CO)

Debby and I just wanted to write you to let you know how well our new Vizsla, Sukoi, is doing after almost two weeks at his new home here in Clearfield, PA.  It didn’t take us long to fall in love with the little bugger.  He is more than we expected in a Vizsla puppy.  He is loving, playful and affectionate; he’s interacting well with our older ShihTzu, Cosmo and adjusting well to my clients who come and go constantly from my home office.  Everyone comments what a handsome pup he is. You can tell his breeding is exceptional.  We want to thank you for the long phone conversations prior to our purchase and for all the information and direction you provided while guiding us toward the puppy most suited for us. Debby and I were both impressed with the South Side Dogs; your grounds were immaculate and the staff was very congenial and helpful. We so appreciated the two hours that you and Lisa spent with us during our visit. The information you provided about our new puppy was very informative and comforting as you took the time to answer each and every one of our questions.  You can certainly tell a lot about the quality of your dogs by simply observing the effort and knowledge you put into your organization.   Once again, we must say, that you went way above and beyond what we expected in a breeder. As we left South Side Dogs, and said goodbye, we received a big hug from you instead of just a handshake….it was obvious that a lifetime friendship had begun! Thanks from the bottom of our hearts....Tim and Debby (Clearview, PA)

Just wanted to give you an update on my beautiful little girl, Chloe. Let me tell you, she is quite the celebrity in my Boston neighborhood. Everyone knows who she is. She trots along on her leash and attracts every single person that walks by. The local restaurants know her and keep dog biscuits near their doors. She is the most lovable puppy that I've ever known. Thank you and Lisa too for everything...Chloe has captured my heart and so many others as well. Enjoy the photos...Elaina H. (Boston, MA)

Frank, This is Bryan. I bought a Weimaraner from you back in 2003. We named him Saxton. I was just looking through some of my short cuts and saw South Side there and thought I would see what you have. I sent a couple of pictures. He's 90lbs and in shape, he's a runner and his nose never stops. Leave him alone and he finds a way to get in trouble. He is my buddy and we do everything together. Thanks for letting me have him....Bryan (Manchester, CT)

As promised, I wanted to pass along a few pictures of Titus.  He is 16 weeks now and doing great.  He absolutely loves running, hiking and swimming upstate. We try to get up there as much as possible.  Of course he still has a lot to learn but overall we could not be happier with him.  It is so fun to see him learn and try new things....Kristina and Owen (New York, NY)

Leo just turned 14 weeks old and I wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying him.  I have wanted a Rhodesian Ridgeback since I first saw one working as a police dog in 1993.  When I moved to New York and saw how many great trails there were, I knew it was time to get a traveling companion.  I called around to a few breeders and wasn't feeling comfortable, then I found your website.  I still remember talking to you for the first time with my million questions.  After assuring me a Rhodesian Ridgeback would make a great pet for me, you said, "Just come visit and I'll show you some great dogs that you're going to love."  No truer words have been spoken.  As I pulled onto your property, I was immediately impressed with how beautifully maintained it was.  I became even more impressed when I got to see the dogs and personally witness how well they were treated.  It gave me a lot of assurance that I had found the right breeder. I personally feel like Leo was the pick of the litter.  After visiting him shortly after he was born, you told me that when I take him out, people are going to notice.  You were right there, too.  I can't recall having gone one day without someone commenting on what a beautiful and friendly dog Leo is.  People have even stopped in the middle of the road to make a comment!  He's also a very intelligent dog.  In addition to the sit/down/stay commands, he's already heeling on and off the leash!  Needless to say, if anyone is ever looking for a great puppy buying experience, and they want a breed you raise, I'll be sure to steer them your way. Thanks for everything....Tony (Delmar, NY).

I am enclosing a picture of "Max", who is by far the most intelligent, loving, well-mannered dog I have ever owned. I have owned many different breeds over the years, though this Vizsla is the best natured of them all. I want to also point out that I have never dealt with a more focused professional breeder. South Side Dogs is immaculate, well-kept, and a wonderful nurturing setting for raising and maintaining such wonderful animals. Another phase I was impressed with was your personal involvement and screening process which ensures that all your animals are placed with the most suitable and compatible owners. I have never experienced such a complete process to own such a pure-breed puppy. Max is 6 months old, and doing incredibly well, growing by the minute, well-cared for and much-loved. I am very pleased and in your debt for all your graciousness and help, and that of your staff too. I will stay in touch and am looking forward to breeding information for Max as he approaches that time in his life.....David W. M. (Batavia, NY)

Here are 2 pictures of "Cooper".  Michael made the round trip to bring him home that Thursday without a hitch.  Cooper is probably the most calm, loving, sociable, and when he wants to be, intelligent dog we've encountered (I've owned several different species along the way).   When we asked for a puppy that would acclimate quickly to our plethora of pets & family we didn't think it was possible to determine at "puppy" age their personalities, but this one is right on target.  He is quick to learn and enjoys both people and other dogs (especially our neighbor).  He's growing at a good clip and his markings are getting more pronounced.  We are stopped very often while walking him, as not many people own these type of dogs down here in south Florida.  Everyone comments how beautiful he is. He has finally gotten used to our nasty thick grass and the very hot concrete/asphalt .  Now if we can only get him to stop chasing our cats! I'll send more pictures as he grows as I am sure he will be more handsome as he grows....Peppi & Michael (Sunrise, South Florida)

UPDATE

Cooper's birthday present was a real hit! Cassie arrived just in time to celebrate. Cooper has not been able to get enough of her and frequently has to be reminded she is just a baby. He tries to play tug of war, "Indian giver" with his toys, and has agreed to share a portion of his pillow with her. Although she has only been with us for a week now, she is beginning to go to the door to let us know she's "gotta go". We have a cow bell that Cooper used to ring when he wanted us to hurry up and she's rang it once or twice. She's quite different than he, as she is a very confident dog (except for the 1st day). She walks proudly with her tail straight up and is calm around other dogs and people. Cooper is very excitable and loves to jump. We are hoping that she will wear off on him as well as drain some of his enormous amount of energy! On the flip side maybe his loving nature and funny antics will l cross over to her. When we get ice from the fridge, Cooper comes, as well as Cassie (even if she's in a deep sleep). We give him a cube and she sits under him waiting for the pieces to fall. It's a hoot!
We receive nothing but compliments from everyone we encounter. Cooper is a beautiful dog and we are sure Cassie will be the same. We'll keep you up to date with pictures and "growing" progress of the two. Until then, thanks again for the wonderful companions!....Peppi & Michael (Sunrise, South Florida)
